Our Story

1997

Established in Glasgow in 1997, ACS initially focused on the rental of highland wear to the Scottish market.

2004

Operations expanded enormously and ACS moved into a purpose-built 25,000 sq ft facility in Glasgow.

2006

ACS gains key contracts with multiple retailers and expands the product range to include formalwear as well as highland wear.

2009

ACS outgrows the new facility and extends the warehouse to 40,000 sq ft.

2013

ACS moves to a new 85,000 sq ft facility on the outskirts of Glasgow. With state-of-the-art garment handling technology, the new premises helps us provide a best-in-class service.

2015

Having received significant private equity investment, ACS looks to replicate its success in the US by establishing a purpose-built 240,000 sq ft facility in Memphis from which to service the US wedding and prom markets.

2017

ACS US launches a successful online model with JCPenney. ACS US also enters into a strategic partnership supplying tuxedo rental to TipTopTux and Al's Formalwear, a 70-strong store portfolio in Texas, Louisiana, Iowa, Nebraska and South Dakota.

2018

ACS US vertically integrates with TipTopTux and Al's Formalwear, at which point the ACS founders – Joe and Richard Freedman – exit the business.
