New EV charging points at ACS facility will see team members transition to green travel
In celebration of World EV Day, ACS launched new Electric infrastructure. This includes 2 electric pull cars and 8 electric car charging points. Employees will have use of the pull cars and the charging points will be available for staff and guests to use for free.
World EV Day
The day was insightful and perfectly timed to align with World EV Day. World EV Day is a global movement that saw businesses from around the globe lead the way towards green travel by committing to #GoEV. The World EV Day movement was introduced to drive collective change. It’s a day to celebrate e-mobility. And a day to encourage the transition towards sustainable transport with outcomes for the consumer, business, and policy.
Introducing Green Travel
Local MP, Anum Qaisar-Javed joined us on-site and cut the ribbon to officially launch the new EV charging points. Home Energy Scotland supported the celebration by providing the team with workshops on green travel and demonstrations of electric bikes. In addition, Onto were on site to provide the team with the opportunity to experience driving the new electric cars.
Are electric vehicles the future?
By 2030, car manufacturers will no longer be legally allowed to sell petrol or diesel cars in the UK. The UK announced the ban in March 2021, and according to the BBC by 40% of cars on the roads will be electric by 2030. Above all, ACS is nowahead of the curve and ready for the transition to greener travel in advance of new legislation. This compliments ACS ambitions to reduce CO2 emissions as much as possible as we continue on the journey to net zero.
We would like to thank Anum Qaisar-Javed MP, the team at Home Energy Scotland, and of course Onto for the continued support and for joining us on the day. It’s another step towards driving sustainable change, and we encourage other businesses to join us in enabling this transition.
Team ACS.
